Medium- Will this be the new web?

Just released by Twitter co-founders, Medium is a new blogging platform. Designed to bring relevant content to the content consumer, and get the creator’s content as much fame as it deserved. By strongly basing it on their suggestions for you (Rather than you just subscribing to who you enjoy reading) it should, in theory, support mew bloggers just entering the blogging scene.

Perhaps its best feature though, could be its Twitter integration. Because it’s designed by Twitter founders, it could link in very well with Twitter itself. The main drawback for blogging platforms so far has been the lack of social media integration- the most you could ever integrate it into social networks was by posting a link- and people had to be on your separate site to view your content.

The main thing that Medium is lacking at the moment- and will need to probably sort out before release- is monetization. Although sites look better without adverts, advertising or a viable way for the creator to make money is a vital part of any blogging platform. Something tells me, however, that they won’t be putting ads on this anytime soon. So it’s up to the Medium team on how to attract already well-established bloggers.
